Payroll & Bookkeeping Assistant (Part-Time or Full-Time)

Location: Witham, Essex
Salary: Competitive – Rates of Pay Negotiable

Due to continued growth and expansion, we are seeking an experienced and reliable Payroll & Bookkeeping Assistant to join our friendly and professional accountancy practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing payrolls for a range of clients accurately and on time
  • Managing auto-enrolment pension requirements
  • Maintaining bookkeeping records using cloud-based accounting software
  • Bank reconciliations and ledger maintenance
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns
  • Liaising with clients regarding payroll and bookkeeping matters
  • Assisting the wider accounts team with administrative and accounting duties as required

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Previous payroll and bookkeeping experience, preferably within an accountancy practice
  • Knowledge of payroll legislation and HMRC requirements
  • Experience with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
  • Good communication and client-facing abilities
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
